Jewelry Care Instructions:

Nickel Free:

First things first, Nickel Free options consist of Permanently Coloured Copper Wire, Coated Brass, Coated Stainless Steel, or a Coated Alloy. While we try not to use alloy based chains, they are still a cost effective way to get your hands on some crystal jewelry - so we include them on occasion. These options will absolutely tarnish (some slower than others) so please prepare yourself.

Nickel-free jewelry is a great choice for individuals who have sensitivities or allergies to nickel, or who are interested in a more budget friendly option to Gold or Silver. To keep your nickel-free jewelry in good condition and prevent any potential reactions, practice these recommended care instructions:

1. Avoid Exposure to Moisture:

- Remove your nickel-free jewelry before swimming, showering, or engaging in activities that involve water. Moisture can lead to tarnishing and may affect the quality of the jewelry.

2. Clean with Mild Soap and Water:

- Use a mild soap and lukewarm water to clean your nickel-free jewelry. Gently rub the jewelry with a soft cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any dirt or residue. Rinse thoroughly and pat completely dry with a clean, soft cloth.

3. Keep Away from Chemicals:

- Avoid exposing your jewelry to harsh chemicals, including perfumes, hairsprays, lotions and cleaning products. These substances can damage the finish of the jewelry and cause it to tarnish.

4. Store Properly:

- Store your nickel-free jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using a jewelry box or a soft pouch to prevent scratches and to keep the pieces from coming into contact with other items. Store your nickel-free jewelry separately to prevent scratches and damage whenever possible.

5. Polishing Cloth:

- Use the soft, non-abrasive polishing cloth that was provided upon purchase to maintain the shine of your nickel-free jewelry. Regular polishing can help remove tarnish and restore the metal's luster.

6. Clean with Care:

- Clean your nickel-free jewelry regularly using a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Gently wipe the surface to remove any dirt or oils that may have accumulated. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials for cleaning, as well as vinegar since the acid risks removing any protective coating that may have been in place. If you are unable to remove the tarnish by gently wiping with a cloth, a mixture of mild soap and warm water can be used alongside the microfibre cloth.

7. Avoid Abrasive Surfaces:

- Be mindful of the surfaces your jewelry comes into contact with. Avoid placing it on rough or abrasive surfaces that could scratch or damage the metal.

8. Check for Loose Stones:

- If your nickel-free jewelry contains gemstones, periodically check for loose stones. If you notice any, let us know and we can either recommend a jeweller to fix it, or complete the repair ourselves.

9. Rotate Your Jewelry:

- If you have a collection of nickel-free jewelry, try to rotate the pieces you wear. This can help prevent excessive wear on a particular item and keep your entire collection in good condition. We’d be happy to help get you into an assortment of pieces!

10. Avoid Extreme Temperatures:

- Keep your nickel-free jewelry away from extreme temperatures. Avoid exposing it to prolonged sunlight or extreme heat, as this can affect the integrity of the metal.

11. Check for Allergies:

- Even though the jewelry is nickel-free, it's essential to monitor your skin for any signs of irritation or allergic reactions. If you notice redness, itching, or discomfort, discontinue wearing the jewelry and consult with a healthcare professional.

By following these care instructions, you can extend the life of your nickel-free jewelry and reduce the risk of any adverse reactions. Always be attentive to how your skin reacts to different materials, and if you notice any signs of irritation, it's advisable to consult with a dermatologist or choose alternative hypoallergenic materials.

18K & 24K Gold-Plated Copper, Brass or Sterling Silver:

Gold-Plated jewelry absolutely has its place in the world - but what is it exactly? It’s a more economical base metal (like Copper, Brass or Sterling Silver) that has been thinly coated with 18K or 24K Gold by means of a chemical bath and an electric current. This means that the coating can, and will, come off over time - there’s no avoiding it. We aren’t telling you this to scare you, just to educate you, and to ask you to please treat any Gold-Plated jewelry you get from us with a little extra gentle care.

Gold-plated jewelry requires special care to maintain its appearance and longevity. Here are recommended care instructions to help you keep your gold-plated jewelry looking its best:

1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals:

- Remove your gold-plated jewelry before engaging in activities that involve exposure to harsh chemicals, such as swimming in chlorinated pools, using cleaning agents, or applying perfumes and hairsprays. These chemicals can accelerate the tarnishing of the gold-plated piece by removing not only any protective coating that my have been present, but the plating itself, exposing the base metal underneath.

2. Keep it Dry:

- Avoid exposing your gold-plated jewelry to moisture. Remove it before showering, bathing, or participating in water activities. Moisture can cause the metal to tarnish or erode over time so this will help to improve its longevity.

3. Store Carefully:

- Store your gold-plated pieces in a cool, dry place. Consider using a jewelry box or pouch to prevent scratching and minimize exposure to air, which can cause tarnishing.

4. Clean Gently:

- Clean your gold-plated jewelry regularly to remove oils, sweat, and dirt that can accumulate. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the surface. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh cleaning agents that can scratch or damage the plating, such as vinegar as it can remove any protective coating or the gold plating that may have been present, exposing the base metal underneath.

5. Avoid Abrasive Surfaces:

- Be mindful of the surfaces your jewelry comes into contact with. Avoid placing it on rough or abrasive surfaces that could scratch the gold plating or protective coating.

6. Limit Wear during Physical Activities:

- Remove your gold-plated jewelry before engaging in physical activities or tasks that may expose it to unnecessary wear and tear. This includes activities like exercising, gardening, or heavy lifting.

7. Regular Inspections:

- Periodically inspect your gold-plated jewelry for any signs of wear, discoloration, or damage. If you notice any issues, address them promptly to prevent further deterioration.

8. Replating:

- Keep in mind that gold plating may wear off over time, especially with frequent wear. If you notice significant fading or loss of the gold layer, consider having the jewelry professionally re-plated - this is unfortunately not a service we offer yet.

By following these care instructions, you can help preserve the appearance of your gold-plated jewelry and extend its lifespan.

Sterling Silver:

Sterling Silver is a popular and durable metal, but it can tarnish over time. Here are care and cleaning instructions to help you maintain the beauty of your Sterling Silver jewelry:

1. Wear Regularly:

- Believe it or not, wearing your sterling silver jewelry regularly can help prevent tarnish. The natural oils in your skin can create a protective layer on the metal.

2. Avoid Exposure to Chemicals:

- Remove your sterling silver jewelry before coming into contact with household chemicals, perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays. These substances can accelerate tarnishing. Please also avoid wearing your Sterling Silver jewelry in situations where Sulpher is present as it can and will cause immediate tarnishing. This could be situations like going to hot springs, applying certain beauty or lotion products, or from well water

3. Remove Before Swimming:

- Avoid wearing your sterling silver jewelry in pools or hot tubs, as exposure to chlorine and other chemicals can tarnish the metal.

4. Store Properly:

- Store your sterling silver jewelry in a cool, dry place. Use anti-tarnish strips or airtight containers to minimize exposure to air, which can cause tarnishing. Consider keeping pieces separate to prevent scratching.

5. Clean Gently:

- Clean your sterling silver jewelry regularly to remove tarnish and dirt. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to polish the surface. For intricate designs or detailed areas, you can use a soft-bristled toothbrush.

6. Use Silver Polish:

- For more stubborn tarnish, you can use a specially formulated silver polish. Follow the product instructions, and be sure to rinse the jewelry thoroughly to remove any residue.

7. Baking Soda Paste:

- Create a paste using baking soda and water. Apply the paste to your silver jewelry with a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse thoroughly and dry. This method can help remove tarnish without causing scratches.

8. Avoid Tissue Paper:

- Avoid using tissue paper or paper towels to clean silver, as they can cause scratches. Stick to soft, non-abrasive materials for cleaning.

9. Professional Cleaning:

- Consider having your sterling silver jewelry professionally cleaned by a jeweler, especially if it has intricate details or gemstones.

10. Inspect Regularly:

- Periodically inspect your sterling silver jewelry for any signs of damage, loose stones, or other issues. Promptly address any problems to prevent further damage.

By following these care and cleaning instructions, you can keep your sterling silver jewelry looking beautiful for years to come.

Sun Catcher Care Instructions:

Your Sun Catcher surely looks beautiful in whatever space you chose for it, but we want to make sure it stays looking beautiful for as long as possible! Below are some basic bits of information to help you ensure the longevity of your Sun Catcher.

1. Avoid Exposure to Moisture:

- Keep your Sun Catcher away from water and moisture, so avoid hanging it in places like the outdoors where it could be subject to the elements, as well as places that are high humidity like your bathroom. If you do decide to have your piece in the bathroom, you’ll want to make sure to dry the sun catcher off with a soft cloth after exposure. This will help avoid any tarnish on the exposed wire.

2. Clean with Mild Soap and Water:

- If you do notice that your Sun Catcher is getting tarnished and it needs a little help to be cleaned, use a mild soap and lukewarm water. Gently rub the exposed wire areas with a soft cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any dirt or residue. Rinse thoroughly and pat completely dry with a clean, soft cloth. If the wire around your crystal (when applicable) is tarnished, please use extra care and attention when cleaning around it. Please also only use a soft cloth to clean off the prism beads and crystals to avoid any potential scratching.

3. Crystal Fading:

- While we predominantly use crystals that are not prone to sun fading, there may occasionally be some used - like Amethyst, Rose Quartz and Smoky Quartz. We do use variations of these crystals that have an Aura coating that are less prone to sun fading; however, we recommend removing your crystal from your sun catcher if you notice fading and want to avoid it completely.

By following these care and cleaning instructions, you can keep your Sun Catcher in good condition and enjoy its luster for an extended period.
